Steve compared me to Daria and since the reference was over my head, I looked it up. Seems she was a MTV spin-off of Beeves and Butt-head. A cynical, intelligent, anti-social teenager who mocks pop culture with her best friend Jane. Apparently she also has an abrasive personality, and suffers unrequitted (not returned) love as she secretly crushes on Jane's brother. Not sure if the subtext was insulting or merely observational. Shrugs off.
