Brain Tumors and cellphones

This morning on drudge. Two too many people have died recently from brain tumors (Aunt Pat '06 and mr. Craig Boyce '08). Wondering what habits we perform unconsciously today, people a generation from now will shake their heads at us in stupidity.

We studied this in heat transfer. I should find my notes. Basically my professor said these kinds of reports are absurd. If you read the wiki article you will see that it says very unlikely to cause. The waves that cause damage to the human body are the small small ones (like ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays). The cell phone is using radiowaves and microwaves. These wavelengths of light are too long to cause damage. Radio waves are floating around every day and we don't worry about them. Visable light is all around us and we don't claim that it is causing any harm to our bodies and it is a much shorter wavelenght then microwaves.

If that makes sense. So that is what I learned in heat transfer, the more interesting of the stuff I learned. It was a great class. I really enjoyed it.
