So instead of reading la canción del piratas a classmate had found a youtube video where a spanish speaker sang the poem to Pirates of the Carribean clips. The poem is structured like the ocean waves with four syllable lines thrown in around eight syllable ones. The author, José de Espronceda, is one of the spanish romantic equivalents to England's Lord Byron, William Wordsworth and John Keats.
Que es mi barco mi tesoro,
que es mi dios la libertad,
mi ley, la fuerza y el viento,
mi única patria, la mar.
